What Is Bonsai?

Bonsai is the art of growing miniature trees in containers, creating a scaled-down version of full-size trees. The word “Bonsai” comes from the Japanese words 
‘bon” (tray/pot), “sai” (plant) . 

This practice has been around for over a thousand years and offers a fulfilling and meditative experience for plant enthusiasts of all levels. Bonsai trees are also believed to bring luck and are commonly given as gifts to represent friendship, loyalty, love, and respect.

- Maintenance -

Watering is the most important aspect of bonsai care.
The basic rule is to water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom of the pot when you feel the soil is dry.
However, the rate at which the soil dries out varies depending on the environment, such as sunlight and ventilation. Check the surface and weight of the soil and water according to its condition.

Method
[Watering with a watering hose]
If the water does not penetrate easily, water it thoroughly in several stages.
If the water does not penetrate, use a bamboo skewer to poke the bottom of the pot to allow the water to drain.

[Soaking (submerging in water)]
This is a recommended method of watering as it ensures that water reaches the entire pot.
Bubbles will appear when submerged in water, and when the bubbles stop appearing, it is a sign that the pot is properly watered.

When watering, it is important to water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom of the pot
